Since last December when we started releasing DVDs "Filmed in HD" some of you have written to me to tell me you couldn't really see the High Definition. DVDs are SD (Standard Definition) so there was no way to release them in HD. The answer is Blu Ray.

With that in mind I asked our Production Manager Eric Wheeler and our Technical Director Tom Cummings to get to work on the "Project Blu Ray".  Eric has managed all the details of our production since the very first videos nearly 20 years ago, Tom joined the team when we were inearly DVD production and is currently working on his 255th program at Just Planes.

During the next 6 months those 2 guys worked on the technical & production aspects while I picked and worked with 2 airlines to produce the first 2 Blu Rays. Since we will be testing the market with these 2 titles I've picked them carefully with airlines from North America & Europe, 2 very different types of aircraft, 2 very different routes etc..

In checking Best Buy's website today, you can get a Hi Def TV starting at just $179, a Blu Ray player for just $59.  Great prices for the quality you are about to experience and Blu Ray decks also play DVDs and do a lot more such as Netflix, You Tube etc...

Last, but not least, is the price of our Blu Rays. No, you won't pay $50 for them... or $40. You actually won't be paying a penny more than the price you've been paying for our DVDs so sit back, fasten your seatbelts, relax and enjoy the "Real HD"!

BLU RAY

We've produced 2 fantastic 4 and a half hour cockpit programs that will be released on Blu Ray, this coming Friday and 4-6 weeks from now. How many more programs will get a Blu Ray release depends on the demand. Will certainly keep you posted!
