May 2011

Boston - May23rd, 2011

Thank you very much for a fun 20th Anniversary weekend and for all your kind words, comments, emails, letters etc! Its been a very interesting 20 years and now we must focus on the future which is to continue to keep the series interesting and keep on pressing to keep the quality standards as high as possible.

New Hi-Def Programs

A few days after my last newsletter we released our 3rd HD program which was also the 3rd program featuring Iberia. It was great to be able to film the Spanish carrier again with the focus of the program being on the Madrid to Moscow Airbus A321 route. The program used 2 cameras in the cockpit and included a really interesting visit of Iberia's Maintenance and Engine Shop departments. In just over a month the You Tube video trailer of this program had already been seen close to 25.000 times.  Click here to view it now!

Ten days ago it was our 4th HD program which was also our 4th program featuring Corsairfly.  The DVD has done very well at the box office due mostly to the fact that its a Boeing 747-400 featuring a flight to a big US Airport. You also have a very sympatetic pair of pilots. You will see that from our video trailer, already seen 10,000 times in just 10 days. Click here to view it now! The program was filmed using 4 cameras in the cockpit and includes a special scenic fly around the Miami area with a small rented airplane!

Today we start the guessing game for our 5th HD program. Please join us on our Facebook page where we will be posting a picture every week day and ask that you answer the question. Our 5th program basically takes the HD series to the next level with the use of 4 to 5 cameras in the cockpit depending on airline permissions and more.

Having completed production of HD nbrs 5, 6 and 7 I can safely say that we have attained a level you will most likely be very pleased with. In the meantime we've also completed filming of program nbrs 8, 9, 10 and 11 so things are progressing very well.

VHS to DVD Programs

Since my last newsletter we've released 2 programs in this department starting with the Channel Express DVD. This 2001 program features some rare aircraft such as the Electra and Fokker 27 along with the Airbus A300 Freighter on flights within the UK, more specifically the Channel Islands as well as other destinations in Europe. Click Here for a look at the video trailer for this program.

This past weekend it was the very first cockpit video we ever filmed, back in 1993, on a Carnival Air Lines Boeing 727-200 from Ft Lauderdale to Newark International. Back when we filmed this we had no idea there was going to be a market for this kind of programs but it quickly became apparent that the series first known as Flight in the Cockpit and now World Air Routes was to become a hit!

While it was originally decided to bring back a number of VHS programs to DVD during our 20th Anniversary year, the success of each of these releases has shown us there is a real demand for more of these and we will be extending this passed 2011!

Sold Out Programs

This month we were pleased to bring back the Air Tahith Nui Airbus A340-200 with a series of interesting very long range flights from Tahiti to Tokyo Narita and Osaka Kansai as well as to Los Angeles. This program has been extremely popular since its original release in 2001 and this is in fact the 3rd run of this DVD. This time we've included a video trailer. Click here to view it.

We plan to continue to bring back the popular sold out titles over the course of the rest of 2011 at a rate of 1 to 2 a month.

I'm happy to report that our World Air Routes film crew has been expanding and as a result I'm confident we will soon be able to bring you some more programs from areas of the world that were hard to cover for us. As you know its been a goal of mine to feature a good variety of airlines and aircraft in the series but also visit as many places all over the world as possible and we're well on our way to reaching 1000 airports/destinations!

Thanks again for your support and I will be back with more news in about a month. In the meantime enjoy HD#5 coming very soon!
