January 2011 Boston - January 13th, 2011 So our 20th year has officially started. I remember picking up a camera at Boston's Logan Airport in 1991 and some close to me were laughing at the idea I had to put on video the things I enjoyed seeing myself... Then there is the thought that after 20 years you've done what you had to do and its time to move on... WRONG in both cases I guess... There was obviously a demand for people to enjoy the things I enjoy and here we are 20 yrs later and the new title we released 3 weeks ago is one of our biggest hits in 20 years! Captain Marini at the controls of his Air Canada 777-200LR on short final at Sydney inbound from Toronto via Vancouver For those who haven't yet seen the 10 minute video of the new Air Canada 777-200LR, go check it out. It is the hottest selling DVD we've produced and its a packed 4 and a half hour program with the usual great Air Canada crews and lots to see and hear! Everyone seems delighted with the upgrade to Widescreen and the quality results from filming in High Definition. I'm happy to say that we've completed filming on our 2nd and 3rd HD/Widesreen programs and we've added further picture improvements and the use of multi-cameras if and where needed. I'm personally not a fan of changing the view 20x on takeoff or landing, I'm more in favor of showing the landing & takeoff again from a different angle but we will see how this pans out as those new programs are being edited. Air Contractors B727 filmed more than 10 years ago to Bergamo, Brussels, Copenhagen,Dublin, London and Vittoria In the meantime we've also gone through our library and discovered a number of programs filmed in the last dozen or so years that we plan on releasing. I'm sure some will be pleasantly surprised at what we have. Everything should be released during 2011. Other than the new releases we will continue to bring back a number of sold out titles and we're working on a number of programs that were released on VHS and will bring them back on DVD. A number of these airlines don't exist anymore or their fleets have changed. Judging from how well some of the titles we've already done are selling, this is something we need to do for sure. Bob Sobek, owner of Gabon Express, at the controls of his Caravelle as we fly from Libreville across Gabon There are 3 Fridays left in January and our current plans call for the re-release of a sold out title, the release on DVD of a VHS title as well as a new airline joining the series. This last one is a program that was filmed half a dozen years ago and the types on the DVD are no longer in operation with the airline. The VHS title planned is of an airline that no longer exists and tomorrow's re-release is a title that was filmed and released in 2000, sold out rather quickly and was brought back and sold out again. Its now been out for 4 years and has been asked for many times so it will make its 3rd appearance tomorrow. It features an aircraft type that is no longer in operation and a 2hr program that is a must have in your collection for a variety of reasons including the fact that it operates in an area of Africa where aviation was far from modern when we visited, the air to air sequence is very spectacular and again, the type of aircraft is one of a kind wether you've ever flown on it or not! Enjoy this unique/rare program and I will be back with more next month! Michel Moskal Producer - World Air Routes |
