In this nearly 4 hour program we fly all 3 series of 737s, the 600 to Romania and 700 to Serbia which is featured for the 1st time and becomes the 162nd Country in the series! as well as the 800 on charter flights to 3 destinations in Greece. As with our 4 Austrian programs currently available, the crews here are great and inform our viewers about everything they possibly can concerning the flights, the aircraft and more!   The pilots also make a series of presentations in German.

Reviews

For the past 20 years Just Planes has been producing high-quality cockpit videos, initially in VHS and now for a long time on DVD. During this time the company has featured more than 100 types of aircraft and flown to more than 800 destinations!  Recently they released a Lauda Air Boeing 737-600/700/800, the 5th DVD in the Austrian Airlines Group, and this was a good opportunity for us to take a closer look. The program can be selected in German and English. The German version basically includes presentations by the pilots while all communications during the flights are in English. The crew also does the presentations in English.

The pilots go through flight preparations such as weather, fuel planning, routing which are explained in details. The departure routes are discussed as are the primary flight display, navigation display, flight management computer, autopilot as well as calculations of V1, Vr and V, checklists, an external walkaround of the aircraft, approach charts and briefings. One 2 of the flights we learn about turbulence and how the pilots avoid a storm.

In conclusion. This DVD has a running time of around 4 hours which is very pleasing compared to other DVDs out there. The footage from the first to the last minute is very insightful and informative. Soundtrack is clear and discussions are well understood. What really impressed me was the camerawork which allows us to follow almost everything the pilots do and eplain. Since September 11 this is the best way of witnessing flights in the cockpit.

This DVD is quite amazing. This is the first time I have ever seen the operations of an airline that uses the 737NGs and it was quite a treat to see just how far the 737 has come in terms of technology.

The DVD starts off with a ground briefing from the crew who are about to embark on their first leg from Vienna to Santorini Greece. The Captain and First officer did a fantastic job at explaining in detail each step of their preparations both on the ground and in the cockpit. After the first flight, the Captain takes us on a detailed walk around of the aircraft pointing out critical areas that are often checked to ensure the aircraft will operate without any problems.

One of the highlights on this DVD for me was the opportunity to see the operations of the 737-600 which is not quite common. Another interesting flight is the OS773 flight from Vienna to Belgrade with thunderstorms nearly all the way. The crew does a great job at navigating through the storms and what’s amazing is that despite the poor weather the Capt puts down a pretty descent landing. This DVD will definitely appeal to the 737NG lovers out there and one of the great features of this DVD is that it comes in two languages, English and German.

To anyone who loves the 737, the Lauda Air DVD will not disappoint you. It shows the 737 in all its glory and the crew does a fantastic job at explaining in detail the day to day operations of the 737NG series. In conclusion, I would like to say that the $30 that you will pay for these DVD’s really translates to buying a priceless experience, it is definitely worth every penny!

The series of Austrian Airlines has reached a new quality level with the DVD about the Boeing 737. Congratulations, really beautiful.   Amos Migliavacca, ITALY

What a great DVD. I have to say that the star of this show is Cpt. Roth. The flight to LOWW-LYBE shows some great footage as the crew work together to navigate through the CB's all along the route is awesome. And all the while the crew is calm and collective, zig zagging around the build ups, just another day at the office in the NG for these guys! Well done WAR team on some great flight deck action, showing how heads up the line guys have to beAllan Stiff, CANADA

Thanks! Finaly I can see my country in Just Planes series. I often fly between Vienna and Belgrade, and this will be my favourite dvd so far. Keep on the good work! Ljubisa, SERBIA

I want to commend Just Planes on another great B737NG dvd. Its one of my favorite types of aircraft and it was captured beautifully in this production. I especially enjoyed the the flight to Belgrade which was fun filled with thunderstorms. Keep up the great work!  George Alves, USA

Just Planes has done another good job in this production. The visuals, airport scenery and ATC communications were clear. Cockpit preparation, departure and approach procedures were presented by the different crews. In this program, Capt. Stadtler performs a walkaround and inspection in English and German - this includes a close look of the nose and main gear wheel well. The landing at Bucharest was nicely captured as it was viewed over the captain's shoulder. Route deviations due to bad weather were also seen in the ND. Challenging visual landings are done on short runways and the pilots perform a 180 degree turn to backtrack and exit the runway. This program can be appreciated by everyone, especially virtual pilots who love the 737NG (like me). The only missing aspect of the program was an overhead panel and MCP presentation. More power to Just Planes!
