Air Namibia was founded in 1946 and for many years operated several types of Boeing aircraft including several 737s as well as one 747-400. All Boeings are now history as the airline operated solely Airbus and Embraer aircraft.
Just Planes was lucky to film Air Namibia in 1999, the year it aquired a new Boeing 747-400 Combi which had been cancelled by Asiana and replaced the 747SP. The aircraft remained in the fleed through 2004. On this film we get to fly the aircraft from Windhoek to London Heathrow with a stopover in Lusaka. The return flight is from Frankfurt to Windhoek.
At the time of our visit to Air Namibia the airline operated 2 Boeing 737-200s. For this film we get to fly the very interesting route from Windhoek to Cape Town with a stopover in Walvis Bay. Same route on the return however a storm around Windhoek Airport causes us to make 2 go-around maneuvers and our crew decided to divert to the small airport of Eros where we make history as the very first ever Boeing 737 to land there and make the front page of the local newspaper the following morning. Once the storm clears the Air Namibia and our crew ferry the airplane back to Windoek, an 8 minute flight.

In 2000 I bought the South African Airways VHS on the A300, B737-800, B747-SP and B747-400. It was an excellent video, both of SAA and parts of the world I had never been to. The highlight of the video was on the 747-400 CPT-LHR flight. Captain Jensen's professionalism and passion for flying was evident and I wish there were more pilots like him.
In 2011 you offered the Buy 1 DVD Get 1 Free. I ordered the South African Airways DVD along with this one. I am not very familiar with Air Namibia so it was interesting to fly to parts of the world I have not been to. (I have not been anywhere in Africa). I especially appreciated the walk around on the 747-400 and the shots of the aft cargo compartment. I have flown on several 747 Combis, but have never seen the inside of the cargo compartment, so I appreciated seeing it along with the walk around.
This DVD was different in that the pilots did not talk other than performing their duties. But it's nice just to watch them as they do their duties and you get a better idea of what actually goes on in the cockpit during flight.
The double go around on the 737-200 was also interesting. One go around is unusual; you got two of them.
Please put out more specials like this Buy 1 DVD and Get One Free. I will surely take advantage of it. And thank you for another excellent DVD. Michael Karpf, CANADA
The two attempted landings into Windhoek during the deluge are worth the price of this DVD on it's own. Kudos' to Cpt. Rabie for taking two stabs at her! My knuckles got white just watching him. Al Stiff, CANADA
I bought the Air Namibia Boeing 747SP video and the Air Namibia Boeing 747-400 & Boeing 737-200 (when it was first released on VHS in 2000). I enjoyed both videos. I strongly recommend the Air Namibia DVD.
