In a previous review we had the opportunity to see the operations of Air Atlanta Icelandic’s 747-400F and now we will examine its A300-600 operations for Air France.
This is a good DVD. I have always considered the A300-600 to be a unique aircraft and I was thrilled to have a look at this title. While the A300 has seen extensive use as a passenger aircraft, we will examine its role in the world of cargo hauling.
Our first flight takes us from Paris to Niamey, Niger at night. As usually we start off with the crew preparing the aircraft for the flight and while there isn’t an extensive cockpit presentation at this point, the experience is interesting to say the least. One of the highlights of this flight pertains to the approach where the female F.O reports to the tower that there was no ILS identifier on final. The landing was uneventful and within a few hours it was time for the morning flight from Niger to Mali which was flown by our female first officer.
The second highlight of this DVD comes during the Mali to Morocco flight. The captain briefs the viewers on the flight and the preparation that goes along with flight planning. The captain also goes through the overhead panel checks, FMS setup and also provides a detailed cockpit presentation during the cruise portion of the flight.
Finally, some of the other highlights of this DVD are the amazing views from the cockpit, interesting destinations, thorough walk around of the aircraft and various views of the aircraft being loaded. Viewers might also notice how seemingly easy it is to land the A300 as nearly all the landings were unnoticeable.
I think this DVD would appeal to everyone who enjoys cargo airline operations and definitely to anyone who loves the A300 or any Airbus aircraft! These DVDs are an absolute pleasure to watch and I think anyone who loves aviation will enjoy them. At a cost of $25-30 each they are a bargain. These are perfect for days when you what to see or do something aviation related but also want to enjoy the comforts of home.
